Event Preview

One of the world’s most famous races will be held on the streets of Monaco this weekend, as the Monaco Grand Prix will be staged. It is considered to be one of the world’s most important races, and alongside the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it forms a leg of the Triple Crown of Motorsport.

Due to the difficulty in overtaking, the likely race winner will be determined based on qualifying positions on Saturday. McLaren has been the dominant team in qualifying throughout this season, but the team failed to make their advantage count in Italy last weekend, as Oscar Piastri could only finish second in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen enjoyed a weekend to in Italy, as his masterful overtake on the first lap ultimately set him up for a dominant win. The victory only serves as another reminder to the field that the Dutchman remains the driver to beat.

It was another frustrating weekend for Lando Norris in Italy, as the British driver could only finish second. Despite that, he was able to cut his teammate’s advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

Ferrari may not have gotten the win that they were hoping for in one of their two home races, but plenty of positives can be taken based on the race pace of Lewis Hamilton, who likely would have caught Piastri had there been a few extra laps.

Mercedes took a backwards step in Italy, with George Russell finishing only seventh. It could be argued that Williams may stand an excellent chance of scoring points in Monaco, with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz both showing excellent pace in qualifying this season.

Monaco Grand Prix Picks

Qualifying on Saturday will be vitally important when it comes to the most likely winner of the Monaco Grand Prix. We like the chances of Piastri to win the race, but a shock podium for Williams could be an outstanding chance if Albon maintains his excellent form.
