Event Preview

Hot on the heels of the second major of the season, the action on the PGA Tour continues this weekend in Texas when the Charles Schwab Challenge is contested. This event is competed across 7,209 yards, and there is a purse of $9.5 million up for grabs.

There is little doubt that Scottie Scheffler will be a popular selection this weekend, as the American chases back-to-back wins following an excellent success at the PGA Championship. He has previous form at the event after finishing as the runner-up in 2024.

Tommy Fleetwood will be among a number of players who are chasing a response after a disappointing outing at the PGA Championship. He shot two-over in the final round to finish in a tie for 41st.

Davis Riley was a shock winner of the Charles Schwab Challenge last year, finishing five shots clear of the field. A repeat win for the American will be an outside chance, but he did achieve a creditable finish in the top ten at the PGA Championship last weekend.

Previous winners of the event include Jordan Spieth and Daniel Berger, and both could feature heavily this weekend. The former won the event in 2016, but his form this year remains a concern after failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship last weekend.

Charles Schwab Challenge Picks

Sometimes it pays to side with the most obvious outcome, and that could be the case this weekend.

Scottie Scheffler has been consistent throughout the season, and his confidence levels will be high following major success last weekend. He could be hard to oppose based on that performance in Texas.
