Thursday’s NBA slate features the New York Knicks hosting the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Can New York get up off the mat in our Knicks vs Pacers Game 5 pick?
Knicks vs Pacers Game 4 Recap
The Knicks overcame a substantial deficit to trim the series deficit to 2-1. Unfortunately, Game 4 was a different story as they were defeated 130-121 and are one loss away from being eliminated.
Jalen Brunson spearheaded an offense in which four starters reached double figures. He had 31 points, five assists, and shot 11-for-12 from the charity stripe.
Karl-Anthony Towns put up 24 points for the second straight game to go along with 12 rebounds and three assists.
On the other side, Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam powered the Pacers’ offense. Haliburton’s final stat line included 32 points, 15 assists, 12 rebounds, and four steals. This marked the first time in NBA history that a player produced such a stat line without recording a single turnover.
Additionally, Haliburton is just the third player to post 30 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds in a postseason contest. The other players who accomplished the feat are Oscar Robertson and Nikola Jokic.
Siakam finished with 30 points and five rebounds on 11-for-21 shooting overall and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. The Pacers held a 43-35 advantage through the game’s first 12 minutes, and increased the lead to 102-91 heading into the final frame.
New York got within six points on multiple occasions. However, unlike Game 3, the Pacers’ late-game execution was significantly better, and they are now one win away from the franchise’s second NBA Finals appearance.
Knicks vs Pacers Game 5 Pick: Does New York Stay Alive Or Does Indy Advance?
Despite trailing 3-1, the Knicks enter this matchup as a five-point favorite (per BetOnline). Here are a few betting trends to consider for both teams ahead of Game 5.
- The Knicks are 2-4 straight-up (SU) in their last six games.
- New York is 2-5 against the spread in its previous seven home outings.
- The Pacers are 8-4 in their last 12 contests against the Knicks.
- Indiana is 6-0 against the spread in its previous six road matchups.
The Pacers have proven to be the better team. And if not for a late-game collapse in Game 3, the series would be over. Having said that, look for Indiana to wrap things up when these teams clash on Thursday night.
