Aces Look To Bounce Back From Disappointing Effort Against Seattle

Following a pair of wins against the Connecticut Sun and Washington Mystics, the Aces were soundly defeated by the Seattle Storm 102-82 on Sunday.

A’ja Wilson scored a team-high 15 points along with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young scored 14 points apiece, and Elizabeth Kitley led the second unit with 11 points, converting five of her eight shot attempts.

Seattle came out of the gates quickly, scoring 34 points in the first quarter, connecting on 11 of their first 14 field-goal attempts. The team’s hot shooting paved the way for a comfortable 58-36 lead at the break, essentially putting the game out of reach.

Sparks Off To Rough Start With Four Losses In Their First Six Games

Meanwhile, the Sparks snapped a three-game skid with a 91-78 win against the Chicago Sky. Unfortunately, they followed that up with an 88-82 loss against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday.

Dearica Hamby and Kelsey Plum did the heavy lifting for Los Angeles. Hamby led the way with 28 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and four steals. Plum added 27 points, five rebounds, and recorded four steals as well. Atlanta held a 13-point advantage through the first three quarters.

But thanks to a 14-3 burst to start the fourth quarter, Los Angeles trimmed the deficit to 69-67 with five minutes left. After LA got within four, Naz Hillmon knocked down a 3-pointer. Then, Jackie Gray hit three free throws to help secure the victory for the road team.

Aces vs Sparks Pick: Which Squad Comes Out On Top In This Western Conference Showdown?

The Aces come into this matchup ranked seventh in offensive efficiency and ninth in defensive rating. On the other side, the Sparks are sixth in points per game and 10th in scoring defense.

These teams split the four-game set last season and both ball clubs are coming off losses in their previous outings. In what should be a competitve battle, the Aces will emerge victorious, albeit by a smaller margin than the predicted point spread.
