  • The Chicago Sky are winless through their first four games.
  • The Dallas Wings aren’t much better, having won only one of their first five contests.
  • These squads last played on Sep. 8, 2024, with the Sky claiming a 92-77 victory.

One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Chicago Sky hosting the Dallas Wings. Can Chicago end its losing skid in our Sky vs Wings pick?

Sky Aim To Snap Early-Season Slide

There is no way to sugarcoat it. The Sky have not lived up to expectations thus far. They enter this contest amid a four-game losing streak, which includes a 94-89 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday night.

Chicago’s offense placed all five starters in double figures. Ariel Atkins led the way with 21 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Kamilla Cardoso added 16 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Courtney Vandersloot finished with 15 points and 11 dimes.

Chicago extended its early six-point advantage to 16 points in the third quarter before Phoenix closed the period with a 12-2 burst that trimmed the deficit to four points entering the final frame.

Saton Sabally (20 points) gave the Mercury their first lead since the opening minutes. And thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers from Akoa Makani and Kitija Laksa, Phoenix went up 80-75 and held on down the stretch.

Wings Look To Build On Double-Digit Victory Over Connecticut

Meanwhile, the Wings snapped a four-game skid with a 109-87 win against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.

Paige Bueckers spearheaded the Wings’ offense, scoring a team-high 21 points along with seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Arike Ogunbowale chimed in with 19 points, six steals, and four assists. DiJonai Carrington contributed 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field.

The game was close early, with Connecticut leading by a slim 24-23 margin after the opening stanza. However, Dallas seized control in the second quarter, outscoring the Sun 33-18 during the game-changing stretch.

Sky vs Wings Pick: Who Has The Edge In This Matchup Of Defensively-Challenged Teams?

Chicago has the third-worst offense in the league and is ranked last in defense. Although the Wings have the third-worst defense in the association, they have the fifth-highest offensive rating.

The Sky won three of the four regular-season meetings in 2024. However, Chicago has struggled to find its footing. Not only is the team off to a woerful 0-4 start, three of the losses were by double-digit margins.

Given that fact, look for Dallas to add to Chicago’s misery when they teams square off on Thursday night.
